Interviews with Hugues Boekraad, Rem
Koolhaas, and Cor Rosbeek compiled into
two dust covers for the SHV Book on the
occasion of its exhibition at Manifesta 9.
The interviews focus on the myth that the book accumulated over time due to its exclusive distribution and the ungraspable content that was reflected by the volume of the book. The interview with H. Boekraad engages with the social and philosophical essence of the book. The interview with R. Koolhaas makes and breaks similarities with his publication S,M,L, XL, which was published around the same time as the SHV Book. And the interview with Cor Rosbeek focuses on the complicated production of the book. The interviews are designed as dust covers for the book; working in contradiction to the impressive size of the book, but also showing the void of its absence in the public realm. While the SHV book was exhibited behind glass at Manifesta 9, the dustjackets were available for free.
Commissioned by and in dialogue with graphic designer Irma Boom and Manifesta 9 assistant curator Mieke Mels. In collaboration with graphic designer Rémy-Alban Valton and text editor Christopher Fraga.
