While in 2nd year in the Rietveld Academie, our year had a one week Arduino workshop under the guidance of Ubi de Feo and initiated by Luna Maurer and Roel Wouters. I was teamed up with Marine Delgado and Rutger de Vries and an old inktjet printer.
Our aim with the printer was to alter it so it could print in a cirle. What if we could print a rectangular image in a circle?
As we had a problem disconnecting some sensors, and with only a week of time we had to change our plans. Instead we used the cartridge box to move around pens. Different pens had very different results. And in our vast Arduino code there were two variables that influenced our drawing: counter and delay. On the side of the poster we noted the variables to track the effects.
So we created a drawing machine or poster machine, if you like. It was exhibited in action at De Brakke Grond during Rietveld Uncut and at the Graphic Design Festival in Breda that year.
