On invitation of Ondertussen in de Spaarndammerbuurt, artist Aimée Zito Lema and me collaboratied on an installation reflecting the history and character of the Spaarndammerbuurt, based on interviews with current residents. Many inhabitants are nostalic and long back to the times when the neighborhood was more closely connected and had a more socialist character.
The images are sourced from an independent neighborhood archive Buurtkamer Parlarie. They have an unusual and beautiful archive of images from the neighborhood. Ranging from photographs of sport activities to protests, from construction work to street scenes.
This installation was a pilot for a bigger project to be realised in 2018.
